Weekly News 2/9/18

Tuesday, February 13, is when we will celebrate “TACKY  TUESDAY” here at school.  Tacky Tuesday is a school celebration where the students do not have to dress in school uniforms.  The idea is to dress“TACKY” with items that do not match – different shoes, shorts over long pants, stripes with plaids, colors that clash – anything that gives the result of tacky and fun!  Please NO yoga pants or leggings unless the top being worn reaches mid-thigh.

Classrooms will be observing Valentine’s Day on Tuesday, February 13.  Classroom teachers will advise you has to how their classroom will be celebrating.

Wednesday, February 14, is Ash Wednesday.  Please join us for the school Mass that day.

Parent/Teacher conferences will be held Thursday, February 15.  Second semester conferences are held by request of teacher or parent.  If you would like a time to talk with your student's teacher please call the office (330-262-8671) to schedule a time.

The window to apply for EdChoice Scholarships is now open.  All school families – day school and preschool/daycare – received information regarding EdChoice via email February 1.  Please be sure to check this out!  We would like anyone wishing to apply to complete the process that was outlined in our email by March 1.

The weekend of February 24-25 we need students to speaks in groups of two at the Masses and read their essays they wrote during Catholic Schools week.  Please speak to your student about this and let us know what Mass would work for your family.

St. Mary School’s Open House will be held Sunday, March 4, 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.  We will be asking students in grades 4-8 to serve as ambassador/tour guides during Open House.

REGISTRATIONS for placement in ST. MARY SCHOOL KINDERGARTEN Fall 2018 Class, will be accepted at St. Mary School Open House on Sunday, March 4, 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. and March 7-9, 2018, in the School Office from 10:00-11:30 a.m.and 1:00-2:30 p.m.

The age requirement of St. Mary’s All Day Kindergarten program requires that a child be five (5) years of age on or before September 30.  

Parents, you will need to have the following items with you on the day you complete your child’s application:

                Your child's birth certificate

                Your child's Social Security card

                Your child's baptismal certificate

                When applicable, information regarding legal custody

There is a $50.00 Registration Fee payable at the time you apply.

Once all registrations have been received, placement will be as follows:

                1.  Children of families currently attending St. Mary School

                2.  Children of registered, active St. Mary Church Parishioners

                3.  All other children

It is time to order your yearbook!  Order forms were sent home with the students or you can order online at   YBPAY.LIFETOUCH.COM  by using the yearbook ID code   11649218.     Order deadline is March 16, 2018.

Update to St. Mary School Uniform Policy:  Hoodies with the St. Mary School logo can now be worn in the classroom.  These can be those purchased through the fall spirit wear sale or those now available through our online spirit wear store (link available on the school website under the parent tab).  These are the ONLY hoodies that can be worn in the classroom.
