Upcoming Topics

Language Arts

We are currently reading Breaking Through by Francisco Jimenez and completing related discussion questions and writing activities. Students will continue to conduct research and revise their rough draft for their final research paper on a topic of their choice. We will delve into the exploration of various forms of figurative language in others’ writing, and incorporate it into our own writing as well. We will finish the year with a newspaper unit!

Social Studies

This month, we will finish up the American History curriculum, studying chapters 15-17: “Reform and a New American Culture,” “Slavery Divides the Nation,” and “The Civil War.”

The seventh grade with their Lewis and Clark projects.

Computer Science

We will be learning little known Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills. As we just learned how to use Pinnacle to create the video morning announcements, we will create fun, educational segments to broadcast daily. (“Are You Smarter Than a Seventh Grader?” coming soon!) We will learn how to use Dreamweaver to update these lovely classroom and sports & activities webpages on the school website for next year!

Religion

Students will be doing in-depth analysis on the Sacarements and their origin.

Science

Students will step into a proverbial time machine and take a trip through geologic time!

Math
Put away that Sony Playstation Vita, the new game in town is probability and statistics!
